Hey there! I’m finally starting to get used to Cork. Everyone else has one college to get used to, but we have two. Were lucky in a way as we get two of everything eg the mardyke and leisureworld etc! We get to experience both colleges. The hard thing is travelling back and forth between CIT and UCC, but im getting used to it now and its not so bad. Its so tiring having to get up early to catch the bus to UCC, especially when you've been out the night before! uggh!!
I’m really liking the cell biology part of the course and bio-med is interesting too. Biology was my favourite and best subject in school. The way our lecturer teaches us is very helpful i think compared to other lecturers. So far weve studied biomolecules and enzymes and ive learnt them in biology and home ec already so its easy enough so far. In our cell biology lab, we tested protein, fats and carbohydrates, which we have also done in secondary school. In our biomed labs weve looked at microscopic specimens under a microscope which were interesting.
Im fairly disliking Physics and Math’s. Theres a reason why i didnt do physics or honours maths for the leaving! The great thing is theres a free grinds service in cit. Thats going to come in fairly handy.
Chemistry is very hard i think, when i read my notes all i see is random facts about chemistry!! Im so lucky i got a leaving cert chemistry book from one of my friends in my class, it explains it soo much better :)
In UCC were the Boole with over 200 people in the class! It’s a big difference from coming from a little country school with only a mere 30 people. Second, it’s like the lecturers think we have all done the subjects before and at an honours level with the rapid pace there making.
The labs are interesting here. There so different to secondary school labs. We all look so professional with our cool lab coats. The annoying part is having to submit lab reports! which reminds me a have to do one! So i better go, talk to ya again. Overall im really happy i chose this course :)
