Ger's Blog 3

hello again, this is my 3rd blog and a lot has changed since i first started writing these - most notably the weather, its freezing all day every day now! The heating in our appartment is broken so i find myself wearing two jumpers inside, the joys of it.

Anyway college is going grand - I have a few christmas exams coming up so plenty of study to be done. We were knocked out of the freshers football in the league last wednesday so that was a sickener. We'll just have to get training for the championship in january. I'm looking forward to the christmas holidays - even if it is only for two weeks. A bit of time off to relax will be nice over the christmas - watch a few DVD's, play the playstation, munch on a few sweets, that's what it's all about really. Hopefully i've been a good boy this year, I don't want anything like this happening again.......

Were not starting CIT lectures after christmas unitl the end of january so that means we'll only have a few half weeks of lectures, only UCC lectures for january - saweeet. Plenty of time to get my stuff in order again. It's a shame about the Mardyke Arena and the flood damage, I used to go swimming every tuesday in between lectures and I know a few people on our course use the gym there regularly, so hopefully it will be up and running again soon.

That's all for the moment. Class party coming up on thursday, should be a good laugh, they usually are. Were going bowling I think, so that'l be interesting. I wonder is Siobhan any good at bowling??

Jen's blog

My apologies im late writing my blog i just lose track of time so easily it feels like i just wrote my last one yesterday! I cant believe its December already i still feel like im only just getting into things and its nearly the end of the semester!! Tests and lab reports are piling up but classes are quitening down so its not to hard trying to get everything done.
The late late toy show was on last week which was very early but it definatly signifies the beginning of Christmas. Sadly im not going to make the cell biology lab exam this friday as i have a wedding to go to in Mayo. Thankfully the chemistry labs are over so i wont miss to much!
I cant wait to be finished for Christmas, its quite comforting to know that we have January off in cit so we can be eased back into it without having to start back at both colleges at once. We got our test results back for bio med and cell biology. I think its obvious from my results which lecture i prefer, i really need to spend more time studying for my next bio med test!! The chemistry results are still unknown nearly 6 weeks later so we still have them to look forward to!!;)
This is my last blog i think so Goodbye!!

Ian's entry.

Christmas time is rolling around again. The lights are on in the city centre and frantic search for presents begins. However all is not well in the world of the first year biomedical science student. The lab reports are beginning to mount up and the test dates are approaching quickly. The presentations are due as well as the posters. And to top it all off I got clamped yesterday. The Christmas spirit really is draining from me very quickly.

Ah but then I think. Six weeks holidays, presents under the tree and the end of our first college semester. It's gone well so far despite the hefty work load. Hint hint for semester two. Man I relly can't wait to be off. I'm not quite sure what I'll do without the 30 odd hours of lectures a week, and I'm a little worried as to how I'll cope coming back to it after Christmas. I guess by that stage I'll have my Christmas cheer back and 2010 to look forward to.

Mery Christmas all,

Ian Mc Donald

Well hello again,
Its hard to believe but its nearly Christmas already!Only three weeks left and we are on holidays. Time went so fast and i have to say that i enjoyed college life so much so far.
Last week was very easy, because of the floods, UCC was closed, so we only had to attend labs in CIT, it was a great break:)
Next few weeks are ment to be hard, as we will have many tests, hope everything will go well.
Good news is that chemistry labs are finished now until after christmas, so we will have nice easy fridays now.
There is nothing else i can say really, so i better go and finish my lab reports,
Talk to you again next week,
Natasha

Hey all! A lot has changed since I last wrote on this, like Cork wasn’t recovering from the worst flood ever and I had a car that wasn’t submerged in water for a day and was in perfect working condition!!

It would never flood in Kerry and that’s a fact!! Where I live in south Kerry the highest level of rainfall for the whole of Ireland was recorded there and it didn’t flood! Only in Kerry like! If that doesn’t prove how savage Kerry is I don’t know what would.

I’ve decided when I buy a house I’m going to buy it one on a hill just so it won’t be in danger of flooding and because I couldn’t go through the pain of watching my car get ruined again!! Even if I end up living in a desert I’ll build my house on a sand dune just to be safe!! You can’t be too cautious! And with global warning I’m sure the Sahara will soon be as flooded as the Grand Parade was last week!

We got our biomed and cell biology results back last week, I got on all right. The biomed test was impossible, was it just me that couldn’t do any of the calculations?? Though I was happy with my result. Negative marking is just cruel!! The math’s test last week went pretty well! I thought it was going to be way harder, thank god it wasn’t. Though I think I might be attending the wrong maths lectures because I can’t remember doing any of that stuff in lecturesLL. We have our presentation for cit module in a few week’s, thankfully I didn’t get stuck with talking!! I’d prefer to do the write up then speak.

We only have another few weeks until Christmas, I can’t believe it! Our first semester has just flown by!! Pity we’ll have Christmas tests ruining the run up to Christmas for us! God I think I might have wrote a bit too much but I want to say one thing before I go, anything you read in Maite’s blog about me is lies!! I’m a delightful young lady!! She’s always lying you better keep an eye on her!!! Don’t turn your back on her! Well that’s all I have to say for now.

Christine

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Hey there, again!! One month from tomorrow it will be Christmas day. It’s exciting and scary at the same time. Almost half our year has gone, in a few weeks we will be finished our first semester. Time is flying past us.
We’ve already had most of our class tests done and have got some results back so we know how well we’re doing or in fact how well were not doing in our course. Its time to start putting our heads down and studying hard for the next few weeks for our end of year exams. Lab reports are painful. I hate thinking Oh yes I have another lab report to catch up on, and its like just when you’ve caught up, there’s another one due!! So annoying.
Last week was different for Cork. It did not stop raining all day Thursday which was fairly depressing, but it didn’t put a damper on the fact of going out that night. But by that night there was water waist high around Victoria Cross and at the end of college road!! People who went out had to swim and wade into there apartments Thursday night after coming home from town!!
Anyway enough about that, I think class parties are great. They let you get to no people in your class you have never spoken to before, especially if you have a few vodkas in you! Ha Okay maybe you might not remember everything you’ve said, you’ve done the hard part of breaking the ice! I can’t wait for our next class party!

Well thats it from me, talk to you again soon! Bye! :)

David's Blog - Friday 20th November 2009

Well, this week was... different! The signs really began to point in the wrong direction at midday on thursday when a lake formed at the end of College Road, making it virtually impossible to pass unless you were about to start training for London 2012!

Thursday afternoon passed in a midst of extremely wet clothes and broken hair-dryers (don't ask)... Then the evening came rolling around, and the fun really began! After some exceptional footwork, I managed to cross the bridge at the back of the Western Gateway Building, which was beginning to become submerged by the rising water-levels of the river. How I managed to avoid drowning myself, I'll never know! Anyway, I arrived at Victoria Lodge just before 10, with the intention of heading to a nightclub in the back of my mind. Half an hour later, and that completely changed; the area outside the apartment block was filled with water to waist-high! Some bright spark had the great idea of jumping in to the lough outside, so I obviously joined them..... I still ask myself why..... I think I displayed quite an exhibition of diving... I believe it was my semi front-flip that stole the show... 3 hours and a change of clothes later, it was time to head to sleep; no chance of going home in one piece.

I've always wondered what it would be like to ride on the back of a trailer... My curiosity was satisfied at half 10 on Friday morning when all the tenants were evacuated.. So, for reasons obvious, I couldn't attend the Friday morning Cell Biologylab that started at 9. Definitely a story to tell the grandchildren some day!!

But every cloud has a silver lining; I got the results of my Biomedical Science and Cell Biology exams... Delighted with the outcome! It's really all because of THE WORLD'S GREATEST LECTURER that I have! She needs no introduction!!

Hopefully Monday shapes up better than this week... Until next time!

Monday, November 16, 2009

Hey again!!
Pheww!! I almost forgot to write up my entry for this week!! Thank God there are few minutes left!!hahaha...
It wouldn't look very good if I didn't!!..you know, like, you know..!
Anyway!!My entry this time will not be as long as last time (I hope!!sorry if I get carried away..he hee )

did you know this is like our 9th week well, tomorrow it'll be our 10th!! this is crazy!!! i mean waow, soo fast!!
But it's good, it's good, the holidays are getting nearer!!!and after that a full month of 'holiday recovery' with only 5 or 8 hours per week!! can't wait!!

So, the course is keeping it's course!!All going normal, except for few tests we had in the past feew weeks, as they say, continous harrasment is no good for health!! I'm sure I'm not the only one to complain, but at least now we know what kind of questions to espect, and what kind of test-style from each lecturer...!We'll show them better next time!(hope so haha)Next week we have a maths test, hopefully it'll be O.K.!! Chemistry is getting more interesting and cell biology or biomed(not sure which one is which, still now !!),aswell!
And im starting to become friends with the experiments!!it's like butterflies and pink bunnies!! well let's not exagerate...I don't like pink anyway!

And no more news from that side of my college life!!
Outside of it there loads going on too, my crazy friends: living up in the great cork hills or near college or very far away from college, always running (late for something),always talking about food (what is more important than that??)what would i do without them?!( especially if i get fed by them!)
My lovely house mates and neighbours!(except if they had some vodka from Tesco)
My family cooking nicer meals and being very very very nice!! hahahaha I still believe that the two chickens in the garden are there to replace me...Who would have thought I was worth two chickens?? and maybe a guinee-pig?
Aswell I discovered, well me and Nikola, a very 'charming' sport: fencing!! so BEWARE if i ever have a stick with me!...:P
Ha! we were thinking 'let's go to some kind of a sport that won't make us tired'(college life is a very hard sport on top of it!) so.. fencing! Well we spend 10 minutes runing then about 1 hour 20 min using fairly ridicoulous postures and positions, so if you ever end up going, you're not allowed to laugh (even though I do, but what else can you expect from me?)
and NO WATCHERS ALLOWED!! please... ?
It does loads of work on the legs! and let's all your killer instinct come out of you!!!(no roaring allowed!!)...
messing messing!!
and extracurricular (night) activities, but those are long stories!!

To end up I wanted to talk about a movie/documentary that i watched on friday night called HOME, please, please do WATCH IT!!
It's the best movie i ever seen about the current status of the world today, how it's life is being disminished, and completely and cruely and horribly and every single second being destroyed...
Have you ever thought about the future?
What is going to be like??
What is our daily world right now? i mean is very easy to shut down the Tv or throw away the newspaper, and completely forget what is happening to people in the other corner of the world were their main meal is a piece of rotten banana or a chicken leftover??or where a polar bear has to keep swimming and swimming because his 'house' just melted??

Of course there are solutions and that's why I'm up for any little thing that I'm able to do right now!! Because I really don't want to have a world like we have right now in the future, so imagine if it gets worse!!
But for some change to happen, humans need to find their humanity, and their meaning in life.

And that's all! hahaha
By the way if you know some girl Christine, stay away from her, she's dangerous...trust me!! :) by the way do all Kerry people keep making up stories?? just wondering!

Adiosssss!! ;)

Jens blog

Hi again!:) Its nearly christmas, I love that feeling the shops have even started playing christmas songs! As for that other thing... am o ya college, well its going good I'm glad to say! If I had a preference to what lectures I could attend more so than the slightly annoying one's my choice would definatly be Cell Biology!! I dont know what reason this has taken my fancy but I kind of enjoy it and I dont dread going to those lecturers, I find it intersting because Biology was always one of my favoured subjects in my past years!:) I'm also beginning to adapt to the labs and what is involved in the different procceses. Cell Biology labs are my favourite again because I understand them and find them interesting and kind of fun at times!!

Last night we had another class party, finally I'm beginning to figure out who's who!:) Considering we're nearly finished our first semester I suppose its about time I got my act together. O the thought of Christmas now is really beginning to excite me! Any way got to go I need to clean my room its a state!!:)

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Hi me again!! I contemplated what to write on this today when suddenly it hit me on my way home........................... O wait, no!! That was the number5!!!! And that has significantly delayed the writing of this blog!!!

So I’ve been spending dangerous amounts of time studying for my continual assessments or as I like to call them continuous harassments!!! However studying is pretty hard in my apartment due to the frequent screaming, slamming of doors, and there also appears to be a vomiting bug going around!!!!!!!! In general though tests are going well, I recently had the following conversation with my roommate Maeve, it went like this:
Maeve: How was cell biology Christine?
Christine: It was grand except for questions 1 to 42.
Maeve: How many questions were there?
Christine: 42.
So as you can gather, it’s all going well for me, this whole exam thingy.

Biomed now tomorrow but sadly while I should have been studying I went to see the viaduct led by the wonderful coherent directions from an unnamed roommate!!! I’m praying for a question on the Viaduct, hint hint. I’m going to have to cop on for the Christmas exams!

I had a chemistry exam which I sat two weeks ago and I’m hoping the results will come in like ..... never!!!Mr Spicer, the chemistry teacher, what a legend, in the last class he tells us he should have been a dentist, I mean shouldn’t we all!!! Because it’s like pulling teeth, getting answers out of our class, I’m still laughing two days later, no joke!!! Definitely the funniest lecture of the week!

Well that’s all I have to say for now except that I’d like to say sorry to our savage team leader Maite for distracting her during physic’s with my constant talking. I’m sorry and next time I’l sit at least 3 rows away I promise.

Christine

So Halloween has come and gone. Hard to believe were getting so close to Christmas. Time flies when your having fun as they say. More like time flys when you have mountains of work. Between lectures, lab reports, tests, the dreaded physics homework, and the struggle to keep up with Maths and Chemistry time really does pass you by.

However, we all got a chance to clear our heads at the class party as most of us do on a Thursday night anyway. The night wen suprisingly well despite the large quantities of alcohol consumed. Of course there was the Friday morning sniggers and the obvious hangover but it was good all the same. I'm looking forward to a similar performance from everybody on Tuesday the 10th for the "Class Party Round 2." I just hope the fire extinguisher incidents don't cause to much trouble (David).

Well back to the lab reports, and the study for the biomed test on Thursday. Good luck to all.

Ian Mc Donald.

Hello!!!!!!!Hows everyone????Omg its holloween already!!!!Seems that we have only started college a few weks ago!!!!!I hope everyone had a great night thursday! I heard all about hard partying and cool fancy dresses!Unfortunetly I stayed in, because i left my ID at home(
Anyway i really enjoy biomedical science so far!We had our first assesments already!Chemistry was hard, i did not like it at all, so hopefully i have passed!!!!Biology was grand, yet some questions were confusing!!!!Hope we all did well!We have our biomedical science test this thursday, so i better start studying for it early, and try not to leave it until the last minute as i always do!!!!!!
Oh and of course i have to mention maths!!!!maths lectures are just so bad, you seat there and nothing is going in, basically because noone knows what the lecturer is talkng about!!!So hopefully something will change soon!
Its really hard to think what else to say, because it will be just the repetittion of what others have said already....so bye for now..and ill talk to u later soon!!!!!:):)

Ger's Blog (2)

hello everyone, hope ye had a great halloween. Thursday night was crazy, iv'e never seen so many people all in fancy dress, coming from small Tipperary Town I cudn't believe some of the costumes I saw in the city - from Pac man to a dustbin, some people put in serious effort to look good for the celebrations!! I myself found a pig costume in Hallmark and this got a fair few laughs out of a lot of people, although it nearly backfired when a group of drunks started calling me "the swine flu"!!

Anyway we had our first cell biology test on thursday also, it wasn't too bad, once you go to the lectures its not that hard i suspose. Glad its out of the way though. Im absolutely dreading the maths test on the 18th of Nov. Oh god help us all. Some serious cramming to be done for that. The lectures are going grand other than that. The labs are interesting I have to say, it's hands-on which I enjoy, even though the lab reports that I have to write up are piling up very fast!

Other than that I don't have any other news of great importance. I finally cooked my first dinner last week - the pride I felt was incredible!! No more take-away pizzas for me.... well maybe the odd one or two ....... or three.

Gerard

Sunday, October 25, 2009

Hey there! I’m finally starting to get used to Cork. Everyone else has one college to get used to, but we have two. Were lucky in a way as we get two of everything eg the mardyke and leisureworld etc! We get to experience both colleges. The hard thing is travelling back and forth between CIT and UCC, but im getting used to it now and its not so bad. Its so tiring having to get up early to catch the bus to UCC, especially when you've been out the night before! uggh!!
I’m really liking the cell biology part of the course and bio-med is interesting too. Biology was my favourite and best subject in school. The way our lecturer teaches us is very helpful i think compared to other lecturers. So far weve studied biomolecules and enzymes and ive learnt them in biology and home ec already so its easy enough so far. In our cell biology lab, we tested protein, fats and carbohydrates, which we have also done in secondary school. In our biomed labs weve looked at microscopic specimens under a microscope which were interesting.
Im fairly disliking Physics and Math’s. Theres a reason why i didnt do physics or honours maths for the leaving! The great thing is theres a free grinds service in cit. Thats going to come in fairly handy.
Chemistry is very hard i think, when i read my notes all i see is random facts about chemistry!! Im so lucky i got a leaving cert chemistry book from one of my friends in my class, it explains it soo much better :)
In UCC were the Boole with over 200 people in the class! It’s a big difference from coming from a little country school with only a mere 30 people. Second, it’s like the lecturers think we have all done the subjects before and at an honours level with the rapid pace there making.
The labs are interesting here. There so different to secondary school labs. We all look so professional with our cool lab coats. The annoying part is having to submit lab reports! which reminds me a have to do one! So i better go, talk to ya again. Overall im really happy i chose this course :)

Jen's blog

Wow week 6 and we have almost reached the half way point in our first semester of college. Its been an interesting journey so far but as I become more familiar which both the course and "college's" along with making some cool friends I'm really begining to enjoy the "college life". Although it sounds amazing, it has not been all smooth sailing so far!! Enjoying new company and learning new subjects has been fun but also requires a certain amount of input such as submiiting lab reports etc. Take for example this coming Thursday which sums up college life in a nut shell, Chemistry test Thursday evening followed by a class party that night, Typical! You just have to love being a Bio-Medical Science student!!!

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Hola people!! I have to confess I really really really don't like writing blogs!! I just can’t think of what to write easily!! Hopefully I’ll be enough inspired to make the reading interesting...! So! Here it goes! As you probably already know we started 5 weeks ago!! It feels like months, but at the same time, 5 weeks it’s like wow!!Time flies! Except when you really want it to go fast of course, like in some lectures were you get bombarded with numbers and equations or weird questions when all you want to do is sleep because the previous night you provably went out, and if you didn’t succeed to “get in”, you’ll be still tired because you might have decided to have a “late” McDonalds (plan B) So yeah! Biomedical Sciences it’s quite hard but I’m really enjoying it!! We have 30hours/week (tutorials not included)!! Well I suppose that wouldn’t be a “good” quality But if there wasn’t bad stuff how could be appreciate the good stuff in life?? Right...! : D So! These are the super cool subjects that we have: -Cell Biology: I thought it was going to be about the structure of cells and etc... But it turns out to be, by the moment, some of the chapters I didn’t 100% like in biology, carbohydrates, lipids proteins...Etc, so at the start I wasn’t too happy about it, especially because we were looking at their “carbon skeletons”!!How does that sound? And similar stuff and I thought oh myyyyyy zzzzzzz...!! But I actually learned some interesting stuff, like small details that can completely change the feature of the thing or its properties by just changing their place... -Biomedical science: Well this is kind of hard, okay, to explain, okay, we are doing what i thought i'll be doing in cell biology (cell structure, the kingdoms, cells etc..) with one of our lecturers then with the other lecturer, okay, we went over some clinical aspects (sounds very fancy)of biomedical science as a job and now it's kind of calculations which we are using in chem. too!! well i like the biology part , the calculations are "okay". :D Chemistry: its more or less what i did in the leaving cert, but in more detail, so i dont find it veeery interesting yet, i suppose it would be hard for those who didnt do it...I have to say that sometimes it's good to get a fright, because you provably just dropped your friend's glases' box (without the glasses, luckyly!)in a complete total quiet environment, because you will definitly pay more atention afterwards... Physics: well numbers are not my favourite thing, we just dont really get along(except when you really need to know how much money you have left for the rest of the week, there anyone can be Einsten)but I actually do enjoy this lectures because the lecturer explains it very well, and makes it interesting! I mean i didnt know that if the sun exploded we would never know untill 8 minutes afterwards!! or if you throw something up at a constant speed of (cant remember) you'll just keep going, out of the atmosphere, even if you were an elephant, and that kind of thing...!it's great to be able to draw little men and elephant's in your copy and say it's not doodling, it's physics!!
Maths: well as i said
before me and numbers in general are archienemies...therefore the situation can become worst if the lectures are made as complicate as possible...sooo yeah.. Creativity, and innovation , and teamwork: sounds very good, but it wasn't exactly what i was hoping for...See, when i finished my Leaving, i said to myself " i will never have to write essays, worry about english, in general" it was perfect!!..but NOU!! i mean i not only have to deal with maths, but i'm doing english again!! Well it's not that bad, now we are doing a newsletter, and this blog, but still I really thought i wasn't going to do anything like an article for a looong time! o well!..By the way do NOT be the annoying mosquito asking who is going to be the team leader, the consequences are very serious...!!:D But i have to say i like my team so it's all good!! LABS: Lab coats and goggles are a life death matter!! My favourite one would be chemistry, it's the only one were i dont feel vulnerable to questions, because i know what to do!! its great!! the other labs are good, but its the first time im thinking sooo much about pipettes and converting and sometimes it's hard to think, specially at nine oclok! oh yeah! i think physics lectures are great, but the physics lab are completely the opposite!( well ok, it was our fist lab) we did a 10 minute experiment, and during 2 hrs. and a half our brains were burning "literally" with equations and numbers and graphs and ...!! it was very very, humm, heavy. Anyway that's a resume of my academic life, i won't write about anything else, because blogs are supposed to be short...:D
See you!!
Hasta la vista biobe!

Better late than never!!

Hey all sorry for the delay in for in posting my blog but some farmer accidentally knocked down a pole near by house, thus disconnecting my broadband, though I don’t believe that it was an accident! I actually think that all farmers are scared of technology, and it’s all an evil plan by the IFA to rid the country of the Internet by knocking down as many Internet lines as possible, so we can talk about the weather more!!! Speaking of which today’s a good day to save some hay!!

Enough about the farmers and more about Christine!!!! Well, I’m from the buzzing metropolis that is Cahersiveen, Co. Kerry. Home of 36 all Irelands we don’t think we’re that superior though. I’m living in the fabulous village accommodation with 4 amazing girls, Eileen who has plans to take over the world and describes herself as the ‘next big thing’, Siobhan who used to work in 4 STAR Hotel until she saw her job being advertised in the local newspaper, Gemma from Wexford who has attended like 4 lectures so far this year because of her problem locating the bus stop and just getting off it in general and Maeve, who’s studying law and will be my future lawyer and takes any given opportunity to take people to see the cats!!! So as you know I’m studying Bio Med in CIT and UCC. Loving the general college life, spend my life at the moment watching TV and making prank phone calls and staring at the o so lovely nurse Mus!!!! Also me and/or the girls enjoy an occasional trip to the bins and if we are in particular good form we might even chase the odd cat!!! So far the only speed bump in our beautiful relationship is the fact that they are using me to get ever closer to my brother who lives down stairs with the lovely mus....and they also refuse to forget the ONE time that I tried to cook them alive!!!

Well that’s enough about me and the village people. Four weeks in I'm really liking the course so far, I've made a few friends and the course is pretty interesting so far! My only problems are all the 9a.m. starts, there really taking there toll on me!! Every time my alarm goes off at half 7 i can feel a little part of my soul dieing, and all i want to do is turn around and go back to sleep and maybe get up around one for home and away!! If it wasn't for home and away i don't think I'd get up in the morning! I didn't realise what an important role h&a played in college life, it's like a religion!!

Well i'm off, i'll be back again in a few weeks.

Christine

Blog : David Kinsella : 5th October 2009

Does anyone actually like Mondays?! Ever notice how the week looks like it’s never going to end when your sitting at the back of a lecture hall at 9am listening to some bloke discussing the finer points of Planck’s constant? Personally, I think credits should be awarded just for being present! I never knew there was a 7:30 in the morning as well until this morning!

Anyway, finally got the Physics book today; its sheer weight makes it a fairly useful weapon! I hope the price included the medical fees paid in advance, because I’m definitely going to be suffering from chronic back pains in later years thanks to hauling the book on my back…

Wouldn’t it have made more sense just to make a few smaller editions instead of cramming it all in? It was probably a security precaution come to think of it… No one could dream of making a quick getaway with that to carry! But seriously, Biomedical Science students only have to do Physics for first year; so what was the point in us buying a physics book with over a thousand pages?!

Anyway, just found out; I got elected Entertainment Rep for the class! A landslide victory! - It helps when no one knows about it and your the only candidate in the running! So if anyone has any ideas about a class night out just leave a comment... Friday just can't come soon enough!

Ger's Blog 30/9/09

It's our third week of college already and it's hard to believe how fast the time has gone. I'm slowly getting used to the late nights and early mornings. The lectures seems to be moving along at a nice pace but one or two lecturers have mentioned exams already!

I'm kept busy constantly checking out my blackboard lectures and running backwards and forawrds between CIT and UCC, but at least the weather is nice .... for the moment anyway. Football trials have started in CIT so it provides a nice break from the educational side of the college life. I still don't know how to cook properly in my new apartment but with Apache Pizza just down the road I'm not too worried.

Talk again soon. Gerard

2nd Blog.

Today we had or first labs. They went quite well. We learned how to use microscopes and examine various biological samples. Most of our other labs also kick off this week which I'm looking forward to. They should be interesting and provide a good contrast to our class based lectures.

This week is also freshers week and there are lots of events going on around campus from food stalls to comedy shows. There are also a number of events on in town this week so I'm looking forward to checking those out. See you there.

First Blog.

Well, were starting in UCC on Monday morning. We have physics first thing which I'm a little nervous about having not done physics for the leaving. I guess theres a few people in the same boat though and the free student support in CIT seems to give us every opportunity to get on well. Other than that I'm looking forward to the UCC experience as I'm sure everybody else is.
